Office of Judicial Affairs
Campus-related complaints and charges against students involving alleged violations of campus regulations are investigated and adjudicated via the office of Judicial Affairs. Judicial Affairs also assists students, faculty, staff, administration and community members in locating, interpreting and applying campus policies and regulations and laws applicable to students. Analysis of actual and perceived problems and alternative courses of action to alleviate or resolve the situations are explored.
It is the position of California State University, Long Beach to attempt to resolve a complaint or grievance at the lowest possible level and to encourage the informal resolution of such matters. Grievances or complaints should be initiated at a time as close as possible to the event or events precipitating the bringing of such complaints or grievances. This will assist in a fresh recollection of the facts and events and allow for the location of parties related to the matter so they may be heard.
Because of the diversity of the possible range of student complaints and grievances on a campus as large and complex as California State University, Long Beach, there are, of necessity, a variety of procedures to resolve complaints and grievances.
