About Living On Campus

A Message from the Housing Director

Stan Olin

California State University, Long Beach is a wonderful place to learn, to grow and to become a part of campus life. The beauty and location of our university, the quality of our academic programs, student services, the opportunities for involvement and the friendly diversity of our faculty, staff and students offer each student a unique path to success.

Within the larger university, our Housing and Residential Life community is more analogous to a small college environment. With housing for more than 1,900 students, our residence halls are located on the west side of the campus, a short walking distance from The Walter Pyramid. Special programs (like Faculty in Residence). International House, trained staff, and an active offering of social, recreational, educational and community service programs sponsored by our student Residence Hall Association (RHA), are designed to enhance both academic and personal development.

Our goal is to facilitate a setting that supports the learning environment and your success while making your life on campus convenient, comfortable, enjoyable, safe and secure. The information on our web site should answer your questions about important dates and payment options. If, after reading it, you still have questions, please don't hesitate to write or call our office, Monday through Friday, 8 AM. to 5 PM.

Don't be shy! This is an ideal time for you to transition from home to independence. We like and respect students, and you can expect to be treated personally and respectfully when you call or visit our office.
