1. A process for timely adoption of textbooks by faculty.

Instructional Materials Accessibility Plan

Back to IMAP Table of Contents

1A. Overview

University Bookstore has long-standing deadlines for the adoption of textbooks by faculty that, if observed uniformly, would provide adequate time for the acquisition of textbooks by the bookstore as well as sufficient time to produce textbooks in alternate format. Currently, 34% of instructors order textbooks by the ordering deadline for the fall semester. The Academic Senate is currently developing policy that would move the establishment and enforcement of deadlines to the academic colleges so as to significantly increase the percentage of textbooks adopted in a timely manner. Business process associated with adoption of textbooks will be established and implemented collaboratively by University Bookstore and the Division of Academic Affairs in consultation with Disabled Student Services.

The DSS & HTC Alternative Media Project will use reasonable accommodation guidelines to secure and/or produce accessible print instructional materials.
