Attention Graduating Seniors! |
Attention Graduating Seniors! Reminder of all the stuff you should be doing, well not really. This is just the stuff that I am doing and you might want to know…
If you have filed to graduate remember to keep checking your my.csulb.edu site to see if you are missing anything. That includes your to do list. If possible you should meet again with an advisor to double check. Better safe then sorry. If you procrastinate you could end up having to come back for another semester. (I got an e-mail about that this week on how I should check.)
You should also check out the CSULB Career Development Center if you haven’t already. (I know, I know, I should have already gone but my goal is to go this semester so you should as well.) According to their site if you are a senior you should, “schedule an appointment with a career counselor, attend workshops, attend job fairs, and register for On-Campus Interview.” For more of their advice check out the CSULB page and go to the Career Development Center.
When I was talking to my friends about graduation, we didn’t really know about the commencement ceremony itself so I got some information for all of you as well. You can rent your Bachelor’s Cap, Gown and Tassel at the bookstore for $45.00 according to their website. If you want to buy the “Class of 2007” Tassel that is $8.95. I am excited because my tassel color is white (that’s for the College of Liberal Arts if you don’t know yours search “commencement ceremony” on the main CSULB site.)
You also might want to start telling your family so they can save the date. Whether that means you create your own announcement or buy them through the bookstore.
Official College ceremonies start Wednesday, May 30, 2007 with Health and Human Services and Business Administration. Thursday May 31st, 2007 has both Liberal Arts ceremonies and the Education and Liberal Studies ends the night. Art and Engineering majors will graduate on Friday, June 1st. So figure our which is yours and start telling people. All I ask is that your friends and families do not bring the annoying bullhorns or noise makers.
I am nervous but excited that it’s coming up. We shall see how this semester goes. Oh and my ceremony is Thursday at 9 a.m. on May 31st. So come and cheer me on. I know that it’s about time for me to get out of here.
My tip: Well this tip is for girls at the ceremonies… we have to walk on grass and pavement so super high heels or stilettos might sink into the grass. I plan on wearing flip-flops so I don’t fall on my face or get stuck in the mud.

Who is Meli The Gr8?When she is not posing next to trees, Meli Duque uses her time to trick unknowing freshmen into giving all their time to ASI. The self-proclaimed Beach Guru is a super-senior who has been involved, one way or another, in almost every type of organization on campus, which includes writing for both school newspapers (when that was allowed), joining a sorority, campaigning for student government, and even rowing on the women's crew team (it only lasted two weeks). Now she stays chained to a desk in ASI Communications where she writes, edits and awaits her chance to escape into the "real world" this spring. |
