CSULB Student Satisfaction 2002: Talent Development
Colleges and universities are intensely interested in understanding the extent to which they develop the talents of their students, both cognitively and affectively. In the CSULB Student Satisfaction Survey of 2002, students were asked to rate themselves in each of the following skills before and after attending CSULB. Paired samples t-tests revealed that in nearly all cases, students reported significant growth in key skill areas. Responses were coded on a scale of 1-5, with 1=low and 5=high self-ratings.

Enhancing personal health
Understanding,appreciating aesthetics
Using computers/information technology
Contributing as part of a team
Understanding scientific approaches
Functioning in a culturally diverse society

Understanding arts/sciences/humanities
Coping with change
Understanding own strengths/weaknesses
