CSULB and Long Beach Transit is offering U-Pass --free bus and Passport shuttle rides for all CSULB students and staff year-round.The successful month-long trial period saw an increase of ridership from about 1,200 daily to 4,000 at CSULB. All current students and staff need is a valid CSULB ID to swipe through the farebox machine on the bus or Passport shuttle. Remember: It's not just for school -- you can take the bus anywhere, anytime for free.
Affordable healthcare available for students
Aetna Student Health for the first time is offering a dental plan through its affordable healthcare program. Enrollment ends Oct. 20. For more information, visit the AS Business Office the University Student Union, room 229, or call (562) 985-4994.
Fund established for Metrolink victim
ASI has launched an effort to raise money for the family of first-year CSULB student Jacob Hefter, who was killed in the Sept. 12 Metrolink crash. Collections will be used to pay for funeral expenses.If you are interested in donating or supporting this effort, contributions are being accepted at the AS Business Office in the University Student Union, room 229, or call (562) 985-4995.
Beach Pride party to make a splash at USU
ASI splashes into fall with the Beach Pride Poolside on Oct. 21 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the University Student Union pool on the 1st floor of the USU. The festivities will include free food, swimming, entertainment and the announcement of the winner of a free semester of tuition through 49er Fever.
Associated Students, Inc. is a nonprofit membership association and auxiliary organization of the university. The mission of ASI is to improve the quality of campus life for students while enhancing their educational experience. Students automatically become members of the association when they pay their mandatory student fees at the time of registration.
