A
six-week summer program is offered on the CSULB campus. The summer
program allows students to experience living in a college residence
hall, adapt to a college environment and interact with students
from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Students attend classes that will enhance and strengthen their academic
skills in English, mathematics and science. They also attend classes
and workshops in career planning, foreign language and computer
applications.
Additionally, students participate in a full range of cultural and recreational activities, which include field trips to concerts, theater events and museums.
The CSULB Upward Bound summer residential program participates in the Food Research and Action Center's Simplified Summer Food Program. The Simplified Summer Food Program provides federal funds to feed children (18 and younger) up to two meals per day during the summer or during a year-round school’s extended break.
