Calculating Your GPA

To calculate your GPA for middle school and high school, assign a grade point value to each letter grade according to the following scale*:
A = 4 grade points
B = 3 grade points
C = 2 grade points
D = 1 grade point
F = 0 grade points
Add the units and grade points separately. Then, divide the total grade points by total units to get the average, as shown below.

* Grades in approved honors courses taken in the 11th and 12th grades are assigned an additional point for grades of A, B or C. There are no honors points awarded for grades of D and F. A maximum of 8 extra points for approved honors courses will be awarded. A maximum of 2 of these units can be completed in the 10th grade.
