Eligibility & Admission

The Summer Bridge Program is for first-time freshmen who have been admitted to California State University, Long Beach and to the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).

The Summer Bridge Program is for students who are not college ready in English and Math and who are required to take Early Start classes during the Summer. Students admitted to SBP will fulfill their Early Start requirements by taking SBP classes. SBP students may also earn up to 4 units of college credit !

EOP students will be selected to attend the Summer Bridge Program based on their academic need and available program space. We carefully review the English Placement Test and Entry Level Mathematics test (EPT/ELM) and SAT or ACT scores to determine which students would most benefit from this program.

If you are selected to attend the Summer Bridge Program, you will receive an acceptance letter and an application packet.

Please note that all students who have committed to participate in the Summer Bridge Program will also be required to attend a MANDATORY orientation with their parent(s) or guardian.
