Summer Bridge Program

The Summer Bridge Program (SBP) is a four-week residential program that allows select first-time freshmen students to experience the California State University, Long Beach environment prior to entering the fall term. Students will bridge the gap between high school and college through academic coursework, enrichment activities, and the opportunity to build relationships and network with students, faculty and staff. Instruction and tutoring are an integral part of the Summer Bridge program.

What Happens During Summer Bridge?

• Participants take math and EOP 100 , designed to enhance their academic performance at CSULB.
• SBP students are exempt from taking Early Start classes and may possibly earn up to 2 units of college credit .
• Students will become familiar with the campus, academic expectations, campus resources and opportunities, career planning, cultural diversity, and develop study skills.
• Summer Bridge students are more prepared to experience the challenges and meet the demands of a four-year university.

Cost

The Summer Bridge Program, includes housing and meals and educational materials are free of charge to all selected participants. Acceptance into the Summer Bridge Program does not guarantee university admission, financial aid, or housing.
