The CSULB Student Health Services is medically accredited as an ambulatory care clinic by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. Basic services are provided without charge and are covered by the student health fee. Some services require a nominal fee.
The center is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
The staff at SHS are highly skilled and knowledgeable. The nurses and clinicians are licensed and provide medical care for acute illness and injury. SHS provides immunizations, preventive health care and education. Routine x-rays are provided at no charge. Registered pharmacists provide drug information and education. Over-the-counter and prescription medications are available to the students at reduced cost. The SHS laboratory performs routine on-site testing free of charge; non-routine tests require a nominal fee. Medical records are treated with confidentiality and, when required by law, patients are given the opportunity to approve or refuse their release.
Read the CSULB Catalog for current immunization requirements.
The Health Resource Center (HRC) provides education and support to students to develop healthy lifestyles through programs such as sexual health awareness workshops, nutrition and HIV/STD counseling and testing and the Alcohol, Tobacco and Drugs Prevention Program (ATOD).
