Desktop shortcuts can be used to allow the user to access web content more quickly compared to the favorites list in Internet Explorer. Shortcuts allow you to open up web pages from the desktop. To add a ’shortcut’ icon to your desktop that will take you to a specific website, follow these steps:
1. Right-mouse-click in the blank area of your desktop (screen), and then click on New, and Shortcut.
2. Type the web address of the desired site and then NEXT. example: www.csulb.edu
3. Give this shortcut a name. Whatever name you type here will be what you see on the desktop as the name of the shortcut.
You should see that icon on your screen. Double-click, and it will take you to that web site.
