During the week of October 7, 2013, the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Secretary for LGBTQIA Affairs, the Gay Straight Alliance student organization (GSA), the LGBT Student Resource Center, and the Office of Student Life and Development (SLD) will be posting large banners and posters on wooden stakes on campus to honor out and proud LGBT individuals and their allies in the CSULB community.
The OutList is a way for CSULB students, staff, faculty, and alumni to come out as LGBT individuals or heterosexual allies of LGBT individuals, should they choose to do so. Through the publication of the OutList, ASI, GSA, LGBTRC, and SLD hope to continue the campus tradition of recognizing out and proud LGBTQIA individuals and their heterosexual allies in the CSULB community.
The banners and posters will include the following language to explain the OutList:
"We are students, professors, coworkers, roommates, teammates, alumni/ae, friends, and family, and we are just a few of the intelligent, creative, and supportive lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning individuals - or heterosexual allies of LGBT individuals - who are part of the diverse Cal State Long Beach community. We invite you to join us in celebrating National Coming Out Day."
Following this statement will appear hundreds of names of LGBT or ally students, faculty, staff, and alumni who have chosen to be on CSULB's 2013 OutList.
