Students who are selected by the SLD Student Academic Travel Committee will receive limited funding to enhance their educational experience by traveling to professional conferences and events. It is the intent that travel funds support growth in a student's academic discipline. Funding may be used for registration, transportation and lodging.
The Lois J. Swanson Leadership Resource Center (LRC) is a collaborative effort to develop students as effective leaders for social change. The LRC takes a comprehensive approach to cultivating leaders who are able to affect positive change in their own lives, as well as in their organizations and communities.
Students and faculty work together to improve academic achievement, retention and graduation rates of students. Both gain a better understanding of the needs and concerns of today's diverse college students through participation in the program.
The university has a tradition of commitment to American Indians dating back to the fall of 1968 when several American Indian students were specifically recruited to Long Beach to begin classes. Today, CSULB actively assists American Indian students in achieving their academic goals and enhancing their personal, intellectual, and social development.
Managed by the Student Life and Development office, the mission of the Student Resource Centers is to provide students facilities and programming to meet their cultural, social, and academic developmental needs.
