President Emeritus
Robert C. Maxson
President Emeritus Robert C. Maxson’s leadership touched every constituent of the campus community. He leaves a legacy at CSULB that will affect students for years to come. In the 12 years of his presidency, Beach Pride developed in an unimaginable way.
On Sept. 30, Maxson presented a workshop for the Leadership Academy titled, “Maxson…On Leadership.” He shared “Maxsonisms” to illustrate his leadership experiences to the largest Leadership Academy audience in its history. He stressed that one of the key traits of a leader is that they are happy. “Being happy is a conscious decision,” Maxson said, “a decision that every person has to make.” The Beach has indeed become a happier place since Maxson arrived in Long Beach in 1995, and our collective happiness will perpetuate in his memory.
