Join fellow CSULB students in this 3 DAY ALL EXPENSES PAID WEEKEND to Pali Mountain. Promote social justice by sharing your cultural experiences with others. Learn about the cultural experiences of others within your culture. Be part of a diverse group who seek to improve race relations. Free meals, room, board and transportation are provided.
The purpose of the Human Relations Summit is to promote self-respect, mutual respect, and the valuing of differences. The summit will utilize an experiential format designed to promote dialogue among participants. Participants will engage in an awareness raising process that explores the impact of stereotypes and bias on interactions. Issues such as ethnic identity as well as the realities of racism, sexism, and systems of oppression will be explored.
Participants will learn with and from each other in a diverse group setting by participating in structured learning activities and group discussions. The summit will help us explore methods of reducing inter- and intra- group conflict, and work to advance social justice by actively engaging in a process of dialogue with the goal of promoting positive inter-group relations at CSULB.

For years, the Division of Student Services and the co-sponsors of the summit have provided programs and events which students have found to be educational and socially beneficial. Taking place at Pali Mountain, the Human Relations Summit is an opportunity for students to become more knowledgeable about our culturally diverse society. One of our goals is to provide an environment where students will gain a sense of themselves and their culture while learning about other perspectives. At the summit, future leaders will expand their minds, skills, and horizons. With trust, cooperation and enthusiasm, they will cross barriers of ethnicity, race, gender and religion.
