Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I walk in and be seen by a medical provider?

    Appointments are required for medical visits. A limited number of same day appointments are available each day. Please call (562) 985-4771 to schedule an appointment.

  2. Can I talk to someone about a medical issue?

    Licensed nurses are available to answer health questions.

  3. How much will a visit cost?

    There is no charge for medical appointments. The Student Health Fee of $45 included in your tuition covers these services. Physical examinations, some lab tests, pharmaceuticals and x-ray copies have a reduced fee. College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE, formerly UCES) students will pay a $15.00 fee per office visit.

  4. What forms of payment do you accept?

    We accept debit cards, cash and personal checks. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS.

  5. Can I pay for services with my Beach Club card?

    Beach Club can only be used at the 49er Shops. We are not able to access that system at Student Health Services.

  6. What if I have a prescription from a doctor from another facility?

    Unfortunately, we do not take prescriptions from outside providers.

  7. Do you accept insurance?

    We do not accept outside insurance. There is no charge for the office visits, and our lab and pharmacy offer tests and prescriptions at discounted prices.

  8. How do I sign up for Student Health insurance?

    For information about the student injury and sickness insurance plan for CSULB contact Associated Students at (562) 985-4994. Information cards are available in the lobby of Student Health Services.
