Student Health Services WILL be open on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 (State Budget Closure Day). Our hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Student Health Services

We are committed to preserving the privacy of your personal health information. Student Health Services provides medical services, preventive health and health education programs to registered students. A highly trained and experienced staff of licensed physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other healthcare professionals are dedicated to your health and well-being.

H1N1 - Swine Flu

The H1N1 flu is contagious and causes symptoms similar to the seasonal flu such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. To read more about H1N1 Flu, click on Info from CDC below.

H1N1 vaccine is available free to STUDENTS in the following priority groups:

  • ALL students 24 years old or younger

  • Pregnant women

  • Students 25-64 with proof of medical condition that puts them at higher risk for flu-related complications

  • Students who live with or provide care for infants aged less than 6 months

H1N1 Vaccine is available in Student Health Services Room 118 on:

Mondays & Tuesdays 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

H1N1 Vaccine will be available until the current supply is exhausted.

For Staff and Faculty interested in getting the H1N1 flu vaccine, the following public health departments are offering the vaccine.

Patients must bring a Government Issued Photo ID or College Photo ID to ALL appointments at the Student Health Services and Health Resource Center.

Students are to come to SHS 15 minutes prior to appointment time in order to complete paperwork. If you are late more than 10 minutes after your appointment time, you will be rescheduled.

Students are considered “no show” if they are more than ten minutes late and DNKA (Did Not Keep Appointment) is noted in the chart. They are allowed only three DNKAs per semester. If three DNKAs are noted on the student's chart, the student is not allowed to schedule appointments in advance. They may, however, schedule same day appointments for the remainder of the term.

Medical Insurance is available for CSULB students through the Associated Students Business Office. Call ASBO at (562) 985-4994 for information.

Parking

Need to park? Convenient parking in Lot #1. $2 per hour in metered parking.

Or, $4 for daily permit in GENERAL Lots 1, 14, 16, & 20. We are SHS on the map.

Current Health Issues of Interest: Norovirus

The norovirus is a virus that causes the stomach flu. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. For more information, see the fact sheet about norovirus from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
