| History | The Alan T. Nishio Educational Equity Excellence Scholarship is rooted in the extraordinary commitment, contribution, and service that Alan Nishio exemplified on behalf of educational equity and access for all. During his 34 years at California State University, Long Beach, the Associate Vice President of the Division of Student Services Emeritus significantly contributed to the shaping of the campus climate that celebrates student, faculty, and staff diversity. The committed leadership of Alan Nishio continues to embrace the mentorship of hundreds of CSULB students and staff and encompasses a strong connection between CSULB and the greater Long Beach community. The Alan T. Nishio Educational Equity Excellence Scholarship was established to honor outstanding CSULB students who exemplify the educational equity vision and community involvement of its namesake. |
