T he Partners for Success Program initiated a special Mentor of the Year Award in 2002 in memory of Consuelo Nieto, an exceptional mentor and faculty member of the Department of Teacher Education. Nieto embodied the definition of mentor through her passion, commitment and impactful relationships with her mentees. She not only provided personal and academic advice to her mentees, but she also accepted their invitations to participate in birthdays, weddings and graduation celebrations. The Consuelo Nieto Mentor of the Year Award is bestowed to one Partners mentor who has exhibited an outstanding and sincere dedication to the success and well-being of his/her student mentees.
