Men's Health Workshop (MHW) was created to encourage male students of all ages to take a more assertive role in maintaining their health and wellness. MHW utilizes full resources of the Student Health Center to offer accessible and cost-effective health care. The goal is to reform unhealthy behaviors through health education, evaluation, and utilization of support systems in order to better assist male students in reinforcing positive health behaviors. A professional, supportive, and confidential setting is created where male students can feel comfortable addressing their immediate and long-term concerns. MHW stresses the importance of health education and its correlation with individual longevity.
Young men tend to take greater risks than women do such as becoming sexually active earlier, having more sexual partners, and are more likely than women to have sex under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Many of these risk factors are addressed in the Men's Health Workshop.
