Health Resource Center

About the Center

The Health Resource Center provides health education and support to students in order to facilitate the ongoing development of healthy lifestyles.

As an integral part of the Student Health Services, our purpose is to offer and refer to a comprehensive range of health education services and programs. We utilize various ideas, research methodologies, and needs assessment tools, which integrate into health education for the college population.

Patients must bring a Government Issued Photo ID or College Photo ID to ALL appointments at the Student Health Services and Health Resource Center.

All of our health education programs are free for CSULB students.

HIV virus

HIV & STI Testing & Counseling

Learn more about HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) or make an appointment to visit a counselor or get tested.

Nutrition Counseling

Meet with a peer nutrition counselor who will tailor a one-hour, free session to your needs.

We offer outreach presentations for the CSULB community, including academic classes, student organizations, fraternities, and sororities.

Sexual Health Awareness

The Sexual Health Awareness Workshop is a free and confidential workshop offered Monday through Thursday. Topics include the well woman exam, birth control methods, STIs and HIV, safer sex tips, and partner communication.

Well Woman Exam

A Well Woman Exam is an annual general health check up, which also includes a breast and pelvic exam. It may also include the following, depending on your personal health needs: a Pap test and sexually transmitted infection tests.

Flu Shot Clinics

SHS will offer regular (seasonal) flu shots for $10 on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Student Health Services. Staff, students and faculty are welcome to receive these seasonal flu shots.

H1N1 Flu

The H1N1 flu is contagious and causes symptoms similar to the seasonal flu such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. To read more about H1N1 Flu.

Gardasil Vaccine

The Gardasil Vaccine prevents the four most common types of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This disease, HPV, causes genital warts and cervical cancer. You will receive a series of three injections over a 6-month time period. Please call (562) 985-2727 or (562) 985-4609 for more information.
