Job Openings at ETS for Fall 2009

We are looking for part-time students interested in working for Educational Talent Search for the 2009-2010 academic year. Applications will be accepted begining April 1, 2009 and interviews will be conducted in July. POSITION:  COLLEGE ADVISOR AIDE

  • Training Dates: August 24 to August 28, 2009
  • Start Date: School placement first or second week in September

Responsibilities & Duties

College Advisor Aides will spend 16-19 hours a week in an assigned local high school assisting students with college admission and financial aid applications.  Maintain files and records on 160 project participants documenting services provided, student progress and outcomes.  Conduct financial aid and college application workshops.  Attend periodic meetings, training seminars and other events related to stated duties.

Qualifications

Completion of one year of college with good academic standing.  Experience working with high school age students from low-income, disadvantaged backgrounds desirable.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Dress neatly and be well-groomed.  Must have own transportation, a valid California Driver’s License and car insurance.  Must be reliable and punctual.  Must be available at least two full days, preferably between the hours of 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.

SALARY

$ 8.75 - $13.00  depending on experience and grade level


POSITION:  Pre-College Advisor

  • Training Dates: August 19 - 20, 2009
  • Start Date: School placement first or second week in September

Responsibilities & Duties

Pre-College Advisors will spend 16-19 hours a week in an assigned local middle school assisting a minimum of 60 students with tutorial services, advisement on the selection of secondary school courses, study skills techniques, and career awareness.  Maintain files and records on project participants documenting all services provided, student progress and outcomes.  Assist in conducting weekly after school workshops and oversee Homework Club.  Attend periodic meetings, training seminars and other events related to stated duties.

Qualifications

Completion of two years of college with good academic standing. Experience working with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade level students and tutorial experience desirable.  Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good GPA in English and math subjects.  Dress neatly and be well-groomed.  Must be reliable and punctual.  Must have own transportation.  Must be available at least two times a week, preferably between the hours of 10:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.  Must be available two afternoons a week after school.

Salary

$ 8.75 - $13.00  Depending on experience and grade level.
