EOP Counseling

The EOP counseling staff is here to serve as your academic advisor/counselor until you graduate. We are always available for all academic questions, scheduling and to assist you with other issues as needed. We are here to support you!

Are you a First Tier Student?

The “First Tier” is a group of counselors that specifically advise freshmen, sophomores and
those juniors who have completed between 60-75 units. The services available to you are:
orientation, academic advising, tutoring, help with adjusting to college, major exploration,
mentoring, personal support and financial aid.

Image: people walking on booksFreshmen and sophomores are required to complete three contacts per semester and juniors
are required to meet with their counselor twice a semester. To make it easy, we advise you to make one appointment per month. Your declared major designates your counselor. Check below to verify your EOP Academic Counselor.

Second Tier Students

Continuing juniors with 75 or more units,
transfer students and seniors are part of the “Second Tier.” As EOP students, juniors are required to make two contacts and seniors are required to make one contact with a counselor and/or peer advisor each semester to ensure that you are on the right track and working toward your educational goals.

As you continue through your academic
career, keep in mind that you may start your
scholarship search by visiting the Center for
Scholarship Information in the Beach Pride Center or through the CSULB website. Also, when searching for jobs and/or internships, visit BeachLink at www.careers.csulb.edu. If you need letters of recommendation from your EOP counselor, please make the request at least three weeks in advance. Finally, remember that juniors must complete the Writing Proficiency Exam during fall 2005 and that spring and summer graduates must file their Request to Graduate by October 15.
