Congratulations on your son/daughterís admission to California State University, Long Beach! We are proud to offer this comprehensive program for students with autisitic disorder at CSULB through Disabled Student Services! Our program for students with autism, Asperger's, or other social cognitive deficits is called the Learning Information for Empowerment, LIFE, Project. We meet on Fridays from 12-2p to do workshops and we provide lunch for students. Please ensure that your son or daughter is registered through Disabled Student Services to receive academic accomodations and a referral to our program.
LIFE Project offers educational seminars on a range of topics that are helpful to you as parents. The seminars are held once a semester on Friday evenings. You have the opportunity to meet other parents and meet your son/daughterís peer coach as well as other staff members in Autism Services.
Our next parent education seminar will be in the spring semester of 2015...stay tuned! firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make sure that you check in frequently with them by asking them about how they are doing. This is a difficult transition for many students, so being in frequent contact with them is vital. Please feel free to contact us as well if you have any questions about their involvement in our program. We do not recommend that you contact professors directly...please direct your questions to us and we can connect with the profesors.
Nothing, it is absolutely free! Just ensure that your son or daughter is a Cal State Long Beach student registered through Disabled Student Services by bringing in verification of their disability.
