Each October CAPS joins with the Psychology Students Association and Psi Chi,the Psychology Honor Society to present Depression Awareness and Education Day. This event features a variety of programs designed to educate students about depression and other mood disorders, as well as reduce the stigma often associated with such issues. Programming usually includes a guest speaker from the community, video presentations, group discussions,and a depression management workshop. Literature is also available throughout the day at designated locations. All events are offered free of charge and are open to the entire campus community.
Each spring, in conjunction with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week,CAPS offers a day of
programming designed to raise awareness about eating
disorders. Events include guest speakers, video presentations, group discussions and information tables set up at designated areas on campus.Topics include body-image dissatisfaction, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and compulsive over-eating. All are welcome!
