In an effort to provide new services and improve existing programs for our alumni, the CSULB Career Development Center produced a survey to determine employment outcomes of our graduates in the 2006 - 2007 academic years. The survey was conducted in the summer of 2008, twelve months after the student's graduation. We have synthesized the raw data to draw inferences and provide parallels regarding measurements of progress made by our recent graduates. A total of 536 students completed this original survey. This data will allow us to more efficiently target specific student populations presenting them with the opportunity to become gainfully employed.
A majority of students find themselves in gainful employment, a large fraction continue their educational pursuits, and others in the military or actively involved in a job search. A negligible amount of students are unemployed and not seeking employment at the time of survey.
Of the 382 respondents who reported their status as employed we find a major percentage of these students in full-time positions.
"Education" and "Business" take the lead again as those sectors most heavily populated by alumni respondents. "Other" still factors in taking up over one-tenth of industry employment.

Of the 23% of students continuing their education, we find an overwhelming amount return for their Masters degrees. Nineteen percent return for some sort of certification and eleven percent for their doctorate.

"Education," "Other," and "Business" take the lead in the areas of study pursued by 23% of the alumni responses. While "Social Work," "Business Administration," and "English" might have been the most popular majors overall we see that only "Business" is the crossover area of study.
