Job Listings: Through our on-line job listing service (BeachLINK), the Career Center posted 8,570 job-listing opportunities for our students, an increase of 23% from the previous year. Through our BeachLINK system, students can also access thousands of opportunities posted nationwide on the NACElink Network: A national job board of over 800 colleges and universities sponsored by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. International opportunities are also made available through our Going Global on-line program, which features world-wide job openings and internships, plus corporate profiles for key employers in 31 countries.
On-Campus Interview Program: OCI is an on-line program that brings prospective employers to the Career Development Center to interview CSULB students and alumni for career and internship opportunities.
The obvious bright spot for this last academic year is that more applicants than ever before submitted resumes for OCI interviews. However, an area of concern for the coming year is the decrease in the total number of participating employers. While the lower number is not surprising in this faltering economy, the size of the decrease was greater than expected.
The number of interviews conducted is slightly reduced because fewer employers participated but fewer employers actually interviewed more students, averaging 7.5 interviews per employer. In the 2006-2007, the average number of interviews per employer was 6.
The introduction of the kiosk for OCI interviews starting in fall, 2007 was a positive step for the program. 1031 students checked in via the kiosk for On-Campus Interviews during the 2007-2008.
