Chris Chavez- President and CEO Chris Chavez is no stranger to ASI; he has been actively involved in various positions since his freshman year, inclusing ASI Vice President in the 2008-09 year. He is a senior political science and economics student and has enjoyed his experiences at California State University, Long Beach. He grew up in Long Beach and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School downtown. Down time isn’t normally a common part of Chavez’s vocabulary, but he likes to enjoy his hobbies: computers, music and cars.
Omar Gonzalez made his debut to ASI as Vice President. Although new to the organization, he is no stranger to leadership positions and campus life. Omar has been involved with the Student Center for Professional Development, Corporate Mentoring Program, Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership, American Marketing Association, Programs Director for the Human Resource Management Association, Vice President of Recruitment for the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and current President of the International Business Association. Omar is from nearby Downey and attended St. John Bosco High School, just down Bellflower Boulevard. Omar always finds time to hang out with the family back home and have a movie night. Although always busy, Omar enjoys playing sports, working out, dancing, cooking and traveling. As a Business major, Omar has aspirations to work at a Fortune 500 company in the city of Long Beach, his new hometown.
Marilei Denila loves being involved in campus life. She has been an active member of the Pilipino American Coalition, Kappa Psi Epsilon Sorority and the Associated Students, Inc. She has also participated in various activities, such as Alternative Spring Break and Model United Nations. With these experiences, she hopes to use them to make the best decisions in the interest of the students. She is an International Studies and Political Science major and will be graduating in the spring. She loves to travel and hopes it will be an integral part of her career in the future. Besides her ASI duties, she loves photography and cooking.
James Ahumada has a passion for service and began in the AS commissions as a first-semester freshman. James grew up in the San Gabriel Valley town of Hacienda Heights and hopes to give back to those who have given him so much. He attributes much of his experience and success to his parents and the values they instilled in him. Since coming to The Beach James has immeresed himself in the campus and its community activities. In ASI he has served as a Beach Team Member, the Assistant Commissioner to Community Service, Senator At Large, and now Chief of Staff. James is also a proud member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity where he has served as Chapter President, as well as a Greek Council representative in IFC. James is a Political Science major and Communication Studies minor with aspirations to work with the city of Long Beach to help improve its infrastructure and better the future for its youth.
Kimberly Helm is very involved in community service; in fact, that’s how she got her start in ASI. Previously the Community Services Commissioner, her role now as Chief Programming Officer is to oversee all AS commissions. She is a biology major who also minors in chemistry and sociology. She is involved in the University Honors Program, National Honors Society, and Alpha Phi. In her spare time, the aspiring doctor practices martial arts and spends time with family and friends.
