Testing, Evalutation & Assessment

The Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) Center, in conjunction with the Department of Testing and Evaluation Services, provides students with disabilities special accommodations by administering local, state, and national exams.

Tests administrated by the AIM Center include:

  • American College Testing (ACT)
  • SAT and SAT Subject Tests (SAT)
  • English Placement Test (EPT)
  • Entry Level Mathematics (ELM)
  • Writing Proficiency Examination (WPE)
  • Chemistry Placement Exam (CPT)
  • TEAS Exam (Nursing Examination)
  • Mathematics Diagnostics Placement Test (MDPT)

Accommodations for specific disabilities include:

  • Alternative media (Braille, E-text, Kurzweil, Large print)
  • Extended Time
  • Reader/Writer
  • Individual Room
  • Computer Access: PC/MAC
  • Word Q
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking
  • Extra Breaks
  • Interpreter
  • Wheelchair Access
  • Close Circuit Television (CCTV)
  • JAWS (screen reader application)
  • Zoom Text (large screen enhancement software)

Students who need to take the WPE, CPT, and MDPT exams must obtain a referral from the Disabled Student Services Office (BH - 270) and call (562) 985-1663 to make an appointment to register in-person at the AIM Center.

Prospective CSULB students with disabilities who need to take the TEAS should call (562) 985-1663 to set up testing arrangements.

Students who qualify for a math substitution need to take the ELM exam. Students will need a signed referral form approved by the Stephen Benson Program in order to receive special accommodations for this exam.

Instructions for registering for the ELM

  1. Create an account.
  2. Proceed to next step and follow instructions.
  3. “CHECK THE BOX” to select your need for special accommodations.
  4. Select "CSULB" as testing site and select testing date.
  5. Print and save admission ticket.
