Overview of the New 'Advising Component' -
MyDegree Progress
The "MyDegree Progress" component combines the information previously found on:
and, places them into ONE enhanced, interactive component!
The new "MyDegree Progress" component is available to both students and advisors in the same format. You can now see exactly what the student is seeing in MyCSULB! Let's take a look . . .
The MyDegree Progress Overview:

MyDegree Progress is accessed from the 'New Drop-In Advisees' component.
Let's walk through, finding the component and accessing MyDegree Progress.
Select the Self Service link

Select the New/Drop-In Advisees link

Select your student by clicking on the
'Search' button.
The New/Drop-In Advisees page appears

Click the 'Look Up' button after you have entered the student's ID, or other appropriate search criteria.

Select the appropriate student.
The system will return a list of students that match the criteria.
Just click the student you want to view.


Choose 'Degree Progress'.


Now, click the 'Change' button.

Select the appropriate 'report type'.
These new report types still allow you to exclude "in-progress" work by selecting the appropriate report type.

Now click ' go '!
This process may take a few moments to complete, as MyDegree Progress is performing a lot of complicated calculations.

Welcome to MyDegree Progress!
Now, let's pause to see how the component is organized.
The first thing you will notice are the 3 tabs at the top of the page.
At the top of each tab you will see boxes labeled 'Current Academic Objective' and 'Current Academic Summary'.
Let's explore each of these sections.

The Academic Objective & Summary boxes are designed to display at a glance the student's current status in terms of major, minor, catalog year requirements, GPAs, academic standing, and graduation plans.

Hyperlinks are provided for access to additional
helpful information.
For example, select the 'Requirement (Catalog) Term' link.

Click the 'Return' button

Now let's focus on the 3 tabs, beginning with the Degree Audit.

Icons and enrollment codes are featured throughout the Degree Audit. A legend is provided to explain what the icons and enrollment codes mean.

Requirement met.
In-progress
An icon appears to the right of each requirement to reflect it's completion status.

Courses that are being used to meet a requirement are displayed in an easy to read grid.
Repeat Code
Each course in the grid uses an enrollment code to indicate the source of the credit; and when applicable, Requirement Designation (GE Area) and Repeat Codes.

Exceptions to requirements, such as approved substitutions and waivers, are identified by a yellow star.

Select the 'View Courses' link
The 'View Courses' link displays a list of all courses that
can be used to satisfy a requirement.


Finally, you can use the buttons at the top of the audit to control what is being displayed.
The default view is "Expand Unmet" to assist you in focusing on what the student needs to complete to reach graduation.

You can also show or hide detail by using the 'squiggly' arrows located throughout the audit.

The Course History tab is a consolidated record of CSULB courses - already taken, in progress, and future term registration.
The grids on this page may be sorted by term, subject, units, or grades, just by clicking a column heading.

Select the Grade link
To quickly see in what types of courses a student excels, you might want to sort by 'Grade'.


Or, you can sort by the Subject & Catalog Number by clicking the yellow button.
Click the 'Sort by Subject/Catalog Nbr' button


Select the 'Additional Course Info' tab
The 'Additional Course Info' tab includes the Grade Basis and Requirement Designation for each course.

The External Credit tab displays, in one location, a record of all course work from sources other than CSULB.
A Summary of external credit is located at the top of the page.
Notice the total units, total GPA, and evaluation status for each transfer institution!

Below the summary are detail sections for each type of credit.
Each external course or test is listed in a grid with the CSULB credit granted.
Click on the 'Additional Info' tab to view the Requirement Designation and Repeat Codes for each course.
