EFFECTIVE DATE: August 26, 200 (Fall 2002); January 22, 2003 (Spring 2003).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: M.A. in Religious Studies or its equivalent, with specialization in areas of courses to be taught, potential for scholarly activity appropriate to rank offered.  Some experience in teaching situations or evidence of potential for successful teaching in a comprehensive urban public university.  Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with an ethnically diverse campus community.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred, Ph.D. and record of scholarly achievement in area(s) of course(s) to be taught.  Proven competence in teaching undergraduates at a comprehensive urban public university or college.

DUTIES:    Teaching undergraduate courses on a part-time basis.  Courses to be taught cover a broad range and vary according to departmental needs and funding. Duties will include normal departmental responsibilities such as keeping proper office hours, advising students and participating in ordinary department events.  Adaptability is needed, as courses sometimes become available only on short notice.

SALARY: Commensurate with training and experience; probable range for one 3 unit course, $583.00-$732.00 per month, in six installments.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:  Letter of application addressing minimum and desired qualifications; resume; three letters of recommendation; and official transcripts from institution awarding highest degree (Employment is contingent upon proof of the legal right to work in the United States.  This proof must be provided prior to employment at the University.  An appointment is not final until proof is provided)
