POSITION: Part-Time Lectureships (contingent upon funding) EFFECTIVE DATE: January 23, 2002 (Spring 2002) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: M.A. in philosophy required. Applicants must present evidence of teaching effectiveness. Lecturers must be able to communicate effectively within an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: College or university teaching experience preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. in philosophy and to those with published scholarship and/or paper presentations at major conferences. DUTIES: Teach primarily introductory courses such as Phil 100 (Introduction to Philosophy), Phil 160 (Introduction to Ethics), and Phil 170 (Elementary Logic). Applicants may be considered for other courses, including Applied Ethics, Philosophy of Law and Aesthetics, as the need arises. Final determination of part-time teaching assignments is contingent upon student enrollment figures and funding. SALARY RANGE: Depends on training and experience; probable range for one 3-unit course $577-$694 per month for six months. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: Letter of application addressing qualifications; Resume; Three recent (within the last three years) letters of recommendation; official transcript from institution awarding highest degree; SC-1 form* (Employment is contingent upon proof of the legal right to work in the United States.
