EFFECTIVE DATE:  Spring Semester – January 23, 2002

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  MA in Linguistics or related area, with a specialization in an area stipulated below.  Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Ph.D. or ABD in the area of instruction; demonstrated potential for teaching excellence in the area of instruction.  Preference will be given to those applicants whose experience and training best qualify them for the course(s) to be taught.

DUTIES:  Teach one or more sections of courses in selected areas, as needed, at the undergraduate and MA level: Language Acquisition, Educational Anthropology, TESL writing instruction, Applied Linguistics, Introductory/General Linguistics.  Hold office hours and work with students as relevant to courses taught.

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with training and experience.  Probable range for one 3-unit course is $528.00 to $710.00 per six monthly installments.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:  Letter of application addressing minimum and desired qualifications, resume, three letters of recommendation, and official transcript from institution awarding highest degree.  (Employment is contingent upon proof of the legal right to work in the United States.  This proof must be provided prior to employment at the University.  An appointment is not final until proof is provided.)
