POSITION:  Part-Time Lectureship  (Typical assignment is for a single semester).

EFFECTIVE DATES:  August 26, 2002 - December 23, 2002 (Fall Semester)  January 22, 2003 - May 30, 2003 (Spring Semester)    

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  The job applicant must have completed all the requirements for a Ph.D. in history without the dissertation and have a graduate field in the area in which they wish to teach.  The applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:  A Ph.D. in History.  Preference will be given to those whose education and teaching experience best qualifies them for the particular course to be staffed and those with CSU teaching experience.

DUTIES:  Teach one to three courses in one or more of the listed areas, depending on enrollment demand and lecturer=s specialties.  Courses that may need to be covered include: (1) upper and lower division U.S. survey (early and recent); (2) World history; (3) early and recent Western Civilization; (4) British survey; (5) upper division European surveys; (6) Japanese history; (7) Chinese history; (8) Medieval; (9) African history; (10) California History; (11) historiography; and other academically-related assignments as needed.

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with training and experience; possible range for a 3-unit course: $528-694 per six months.
