Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. in Speech Communication or related discipline at time of appointment from an accredited university, with emphasis in Rhetorical Theory and Criticism; potential for successful college level teaching; potential for continuing development of scholarly research program in described areas of expertise; ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

Preferred Qualifications:Sub-specialties in freedom of speech, public address, political communication, social movement studies, classical rhetoric, contemporary rhetorical perspectives, or the rhetoric of popular culture; evidence of successful teaching experience; evidence of community or university service.

Duties:   Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and assist with curriculum development in Classical and Contemporary Rhetorical Theory & Criticism, Freedom of Speech, The Rhetoric of Dissent, Political Communication, American and International Public Address, and the Department's large General Education program; engage in programmatic scholarship in areas of specialization; participate in department, university, and community service.

Salary Range:  Commensurate with training and experience.  Probable range is $47,500.

Required Documentation:  Letter of application addressing qualifications; curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation; official transcript from institution awarding highest degree; summary teaching evaluations; sample copies of scholarship; SC-1 form from department.

Employment is contingent upon proof of the legal right to work in the United States.  This proof must be provided prior to employment at the University.  An appointment is not final until proof is provided.
