EFFECTIVE DATE: Spring Semester - January 23, 2002

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  M.A. in rhetoric and composition, English or Spanish language.  The applicant must be skilled in the teaching of writing composition, preferably with a minimum of two years of postsecondary teaching experience.  Applicant must be able to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition English or Spanish language.  Adequate bilingual communication skills and formal training in teaching native Spanish speakers or training and experience in teaching English to bilingual students.

DUTIES: The appointee will teach one or more of the listed areas, depending on enrollment demand and lecturer's specialties: CHLS 001 Bilingual Communication Skills-English, CHLS 104 Bilingual Communication Skills-English.  SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with training and experience; probable range $528-632 per 3-unit course in six monthly installments.

(Employment is contingent upon proof of the legal right to work in the United States.  This proof must be provided prior to employment at the University.  An appointment is not final until proof is provided.)
