EFFECTIVE DATE:  August 26, 2002 (Three Year Appointment)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Master's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or closely related field with a specialization in Child Development and Family Studies or equivalent.  College teaching experience in Child Development and Family Studies including such classes as child growth and development; child guidance; curriculum and materials; field work with infants and toddlers, administration and supervision of child development programs; prenatal and infancy.  Ability to teach graduate courses in Child Development and Family Studies.  Experience in administration of programs serving toddlers and/or preschool children.  Active participation in a professional association serving young children and families.  Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in Child Development and Family Studies or related field.  University-based experience as an administrator of an NAEYC accredited program. Experience as an advisor of a student organization related to Child Development and Family Studies at the university level. Experience as a graduate advisor at the collegiate level. Demonstrated competency in research. Demonstrated ability to supervise and work with graduate students.

DUTIES: Teach such topical areas as child growth and development, child guidance, curriculum and materials, course in field work with infants and toddlers, administration and supervision of child development programs.  Advise Child Development and Family Studies undergraduates in academic and professional development.  Assume departmental responsibilities normally associated with a university teaching position.

SALARY: Commensurate with preparation and experience
