Contribute 2 Tutorial



Installation

To setup your Macromedia Contribute 2 connection, double click on the file that you have received from the Admin Group. To request a copy of this file, please contact aa-webmaster@csulb.edu

This will open the Connection Key wizard in Contribute. Fill out your name and email address. The connection key will be provided to each individual.

After you press OK, it will automatically validate the connection. Please wait for this process to fully complete.

Editing a page

The connection is now setup. If you you're ready to edit the pages, simply click on "Edit Page" on the toolbar to begin.

After clicking "Edit Page", you may edit anything under LAYOUTBODY. This green box means, it's an editable region, where content mangers can make appropriate changes to their web site.

Editing the page title

To edit the title of the page click on "Format" > "Page Properties"

Click on Format -> Page Properties

Under Page Properties edit the Title field. Click on Ok when finished.

To make the text in bold letters, highlight the text, then click on the "B" located on the toolbar.

Create an e-mail link

To make an email link, highlight the text, then click on "Link" toolbar, and select "Email Address", which will give you the following window.

Insert Image

To insert an image, click "Image" and select "From my computer..."

Insert Table

For tabular data, you can insert a table by clicking on the "Table" button, which will bring up the "Insert Table" window.

Under Headers Select Both

*NOTE: In order for the table to be 508 compliant you must select "Both" under the Header section and the data must be entered directly into Contribute2 (you can not copy and paste tables from other documents or web site). If you need complex tables with cells that span multiple rows and columns or have any questions about data tables please fill out a request and we will assist you.


Upload / Link Documents

Click on "Edit Page" to the page where you want the link to be displayed for the document you want to upload. To upload a document (doc, pdf, rtf), from the top menu, select "Insert" > "Link" > "File on My Computer..."

This will bring up a dialog box that will allow you to choose your file.

After pressing OK on the above dialog box, and clicking "Publish" it will create a "documents" folder under the requested folder and store all of your uploaded files within that folder.

Adding Forms and Dynamic Content

Due to problems associated with forms and dynamic content you are not able to use Contribute2 to edit or add them.  If you would like to use forms or dynamic content on your site please contact us and we will work with you to build a solution.
