CSULB offers a variety of advising opportunities for current students.
New students are advised and registered during Summer Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR) before the fall semester begins.
Freshmen are required to see an academic advisor both in the fall (before registration for spring courses) and in the spring (before registration for fall courses). Mandatory Freshman Advising is critical to getting CSULB’s newest students off to a great start!
Undeclared students are advised by UCUA advisors.

Students with questions about their major requirements are encouraged to contact their college or departmental advisors.
Students should check their Academic Requirements Report regularly and meet with their college or department advisors at least once a year to ensure that they are making timely progress toward degree completion.
