Academic Advising

Academic Advising is a critical component of your success at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Our faculty, staff and peer advisors are trained to help you make the most out of your undergraduate experience and meet your degree requirements. The university provides advising for university-wide requirements, for special student groups and for colleges and departments.

 

Need help understanding General Education requirements? Want to make the most of your general education courses? Undeclared or need help choosing a major? The University Center for Undergraduate Advising (formerly the Academic Advising Center) can help you.

 

Already have a major? Know what you want to study at CSULB but need information about major requirements?  Your college and department advisors are eager to help!

 

Struggling to complete your pre-baccalaureate coursework in Math and English? The Prebaccalaureate Advising & Support Services (PASS) advisors can help you make that critical leap to general education coursework.

 

Approaching 65 units? Time to fulfill the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR)? Having trouble successfully passing the Writing Proficiency Examination? A GWAR advisor can help.

 

Have a GPA 3.5 or greater and looking for academic challenges? Visit the University Honors Program.

 

Are you a member of one of the university's many learning communities or special student groups? Your advisors in the Bickerstaff Academic Center for Student-Athlete Services, Educational Opportunity Program, College Assistance Migrant Program, Student Support Services Program, GLOBE, or the Learning Alliance can help!
