The University Honors Program at California State University, Long Beach, challenges and enriches the educational experience of motivated students. Distinguished professors facilitate and encourage students to explore ideas and concepts thoroughly in intimate, discussion-oriented classes.
Honors students strive for excellence, dedicate themselves to enriching their educational experience and actively participate in classes and lectures. Honors students benefit from interaction with prestigious faculty and other goal-oriented and committed students who have diverse backgrounds and unique personal experiences. Graduating with honors is an outstanding accomplishment that has benefited many alumni who have become doctors, lawyers and Pulitzer Prize winning journalists.
UHP Student Association
All students accepted into the University Honors Program become members of its Student Association. By encouraging communication, collaboration, and camaraderie among its members, the University Honors Program Student Association (UHPSA) fosters a welcoming atmosphere for the students in the Program. The UHPSA contributes to the Long Beach community through its volunteer efforts, partners with a variety of CSULB student organizations for joint events and fundraisers, and hosts monthly social gatherings to build meaningful friendships. Ultimately, the UHPSA aims to create a sense of family within the Honors Program, emphasizing the value of social, academic, and community engagement.
The UHPSA is spearheaded by a group of enthusiastic student leaders who comprise its Executive Board (E-Board). These “E-Boarders” make every attempt to be readily available to UHP students and are eager to create a more active Honors Program, fueled from within by invested students. The E-Board administers the Program’s Facebook group, “University Honors Program Student Association (UHPSA) @ CSULB (Group),” and uses this forum to keep Honors students informed about upcoming events and exciting Program happenings.
