All high school graduates with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and strong SAT scores are encouraged to apply for the University Honors Program at CSULB. Full time CSULB students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are also invited to apply, as well as students transferring from other colleges to CSULB who meet the 3.5 GPA minimum and who still need nine General Education units.
Students with unusual extenuating circumstances, who do not meet the above requirements, should explain their situation in the application to the Director, who will then review individual cases.

All students who wish to apply into the University Honors Program must complete the following:
Essay Criteria: In approximately 2-3 pages tell us a little about yourself. In a well-crafted essay, tell us about your intellectual and academic interests. What major(s) are you likely to pursue here at CSULB? If you don’t already have a major in mind, what areas of intellectual inquiry interest you? As part of your essay, reflect upon key moments of your intellectual development. Are there books, courses, or teachers that have inspired you? What did you learn from these experiences? In other words, this essay should both look back on your academic career so far and look forward to the exciting opportunities that await you here at CSULB.
