Orientation to Research with Human Subjects

Goals

This orientation is designed to achieve the following goals:

  • Present the three ethical principles upon which rests the national and the campus programs for protecting human subjects of research
  • Provide a basic tutorial on "Informed Consent"
  • Provide a basic tutorial on "Risk Benefit Analysis"
  • Describe and orient you to the Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects (IRB) and its procedures
  • Provide you with an opportunity to verify your familiarity with these areas
