California State University, Long Beach accepts the principles governing the use of live animals expressed in the regulations of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Public Heath Service, Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), as well as all California regulations and statutes governing these matters. All covered live animals
kept on campus for research, instructional observation, or to enhance the activities of child-care centers, are subject to the review and approval of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
