Weekly Wednesday Message

February 29, 2012

Last Budget Road Show is Friday

The last of three Budget Road Shows will be on Friday, March 2 from 9 – 10 am at the Barrett Athletic Center (formerly the Pyramid Annex).

The presentations will cover what is currently known about the Governor’s proposal for next year’s State budget and how it is anticipated to affect us. The State budget process is unpredictable and subject to many changes. This presentation will share with you the best knowledge we have at this point.

If you are unable to attend any of these sessions or if you wish to access these presentations online, the PowerPoint that will be presented will be posted on the campus’ Budget Central website.

Update on @csulb Email & Voice Mail

Since August, 67 percent of the campus has migrated to the new @csulb email and voice mail systems. The last campus groups are scheduled for migration in April, followed by the migration of volunteers and emeriti and cleanup of the old email system in the summer.

If your campus unit or college has not yet moved to the new systems, you will soon receive emails with information about how to sign up for training, what you need to do for your migration, and how to get help.

If you have already migrated to the new systems, please review the online tutorials and self-help guides or contact your campus technical coordinator if you have questions.

Did You Know?

Recreation and Leisure Studies Chair Maridith Janssen and nine of her therapeutic recreation students were in Washington D.C. yesterday speaking with Senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer and seven members of the House of Representatives about recreation therapy and the need for coverage under Medicare guidelines.

The students also presented at the 2012 American Therapeutic Recreation Association Mid-Year Professional Issues Forum - On the Hill about the need for all states to require that recreation therapists be licensed. They were the only student group who presented among professionals and educators from around the United States.
