Designs by three CSULB students – Ian Chambers, Shelby Connich and Imaan Naeem – have been chosen among the top 50 entries in a competition to create a moveable chair for New York City's Battery Park. You can vote for their designs on The Battery Conservancy's website.
CSULB has received more than $1 million from the Chancellor’s Office to promote course redesign, academic advising, career counseling, faculty mentoring, and new undergraduate research opportunities. Funding has been awarded as follows:
CSULB applied for the funding in May through a competitive proposal process initiated by the CSU for technology-enhanced learning, electronic advisor support systems, and student success initiatives.
Please note the following administrative changes taking place across campus this summer.
Student Services
Dr. Mary Ann Takemoto will assume the role of Vice President of Student Services beginning August 1, replacing Doug Robinson who is retiring.
Manuel Perez, the director of the Career Development Center, will become Interim Associate Vice President for Student Services on August 1. He will have oversight over the Career Development Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, Disabled Student Services, Educational Equity Services, Educational Opportunity Program, Testing, Evaluation and Assessment, University Outreach and School Relations, and Veterans Affairs Services.
University Relations and Development

He will lead the Publications Department and manage a wide range of university-relations and communications programs and activities across campus.
Academic Affairs
As you know, Dr. Lynn Mahoney is now serving as Interim Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Studies, adding enrollment management, Institutional Research and Assessment and student success initiatives to her existing responsibilities. Dr. Michael Blazey is the Interim Director of Academic Facilities.
In addition, Terrence Graham has been appointed Associate Dean and Executive Director for International Programs in the College of Continuing and Professional Education. He comes to CSULB from the American Councils in International Education in Washington D.C. where he has worked since 2000. Mr. Graham will have direct responsibility for the Center for International Education, the American Language Institute and the International Training Programs. He will begin on August 12.
