Academic Affairs Annual Report Online
Academic Affairs 2008-09 Annual Report is available online. This year’s publication, The Impact of Excellence, highlights the ways in which CSULB faculty, staff and students are making a difference in the classroom, the local community and internationally through instruction, research, scholarly and creative activity, and service. In an effort to reduce costs, the Annual Report will only be available in an online format.
Marilee Samuelson, director of the University Center for Undergraduate Advising, retired on September 30 after 30 years at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). On September 23, more than 130 faculty and staff honored Samuelson as a visionary leader, a champion for student success and a driving force behind CSULB’s rising graduation rate. More
California State University, Long Beach’s 2009 Annual Convocation is airing on BeachTV Mondays and Wednesdays at noon, 6 and 10 pm. BeachTV is carried on Fios Channel 25 in Long Beach, Cable Channel 18 in Long Beach/Signal Hill, Cable Channel 28 in Lakewood, and is streaming live on the Internet.
CSULB’s California Launch Vehicle Education Initiative (CALVEIN) project, a joint effort between Eric Besnard (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering), students and Garvey Spacecraft, has received the 2009 Buzz Aldrin Space Workforce Award from The California Space Authority (CSA). The award recognizes the exemplary accomplishments of individuals, organizations, and programs that have contributed to the success of California space enterprise in the past year. CALVEIN integrates hands-on engineering education with technology development of tomorrow's low-cost launch vehicles and small spacecraft. The award will be presented at the California SpotBeam Awards Dinner on November 18.
Carol Shaw-Sutton (Art) has been named a 2010 American Craft Council Fellow. The American Craft Council is a leading voice for the crafts in America and celebrates the achievements of artists working in the media of clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood and other materials. The award is given to an artist of outstanding ability who has worked 25 years or more in his/her discipline.
Ken Curtis, Assistant Vice President of International Education and Global Engagement, has been named an Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) Presidential Fellow, a prestigious award that serves senior level leaders in international education. More
