The Library has introduced COAST 2.0, new search technology that makes it easier and more engaging to find Library resources.
The new Web-based search engine, commercially called Encore, reveals content, like media and e-books; offers suggestions of recently added or popular items; provides faceted search results for easily modifying queries; and direct links to LINK+ partner collections.
"Now, for the first time, our users can easily move beyond the classic COAST online library catalog to a richer online discovery experience," said Roman Kochan, dean of Library Services. "COAST 2.0 is a 'discovery tool' that provides highly sophisticated array of search results presented in a very simple way. We think customers familiar with the functionalities found online in Amazon and EBay will find the new interface very intuitive and easy to understand."
Students and faculty who prefer to use classic COAST's "advanced search" option will be glad to know that it's still available and only a mouse click away.
COAST 2.0 can be found on the Library Web site, through a search box in the classic COAST catalog, and directly at http://encore.library.csulb.edu/iii/encore/app.
