More than 270 Scholarly and Creative Activity Committee (SCAC) awards worth $1.3 million have been granted to support faculty research, scholarly and creative activity for the 2009-10 academic year. One hundred sixty-seven were assigned-time awards, 22 were mini-grants and 86 were summer stipends.
This is the third consecutive year in which the number of SCAC applications and grants has increased at California State University, Long Beach. Three hundred sixty-six applications were submitted for the 2009-10 year, compared to 326 for 2007-08. The total number of grants awarded increased from 271 to 275 for 2009-10. In addition, the percentage of applicants who have been successful in applying has increased over time from about 50 percent to more than 70 percent.
